Flash in the Fields

Yesterday Kimberly Brooke Green invited a couple of us up to hang out and shoot at one of her favorite locations near her studio in Westminster, MD. It was an amazing run-down barn and adjacent field with beautiful scenery everywhere you look. It has rained briefly earlier that day which made for gorgeous cloud cover for photography. Also Kim had her friend Bassin (who made for a great model) come out and hang with us for the afternoon! Check it out!

The "light tree" that Kim and I put together with an SB-80, two SB-900s, a SB-800 and four pocket wizards...all held on with Justin Clamps!

of COURSE I had to do a self-portrait!

Armin went to go pick up his car at the shop, so he missed this one...

Allison and Dustin - Chesapeake Bay Maryland Wedding

Last weekend, Erin and I had the pleasure of capturing Allison and Dustin's wedding at the incredible Chesapeake Beach Club, as associates for Armin Defiesta Photography. The venue was stunning, and was made even more incredible with the brilliant sunset that dipped behind the Bay Bridge, which served as the backdrop for their ceremony. You may remember Allison and Dustin's engagement session that Erin and I shot last October in Georgetown, and as before they were such a fun couple to shoot! Be sure to check out Erin's blog too!

Look at how happy they are! So in love!

Pre-ceremony cheer!

Great toasts! The Matron of Honor even made a Wedding Crashers and Anchorman reference in hers!

A tower of cupcakes instead of a traditional cake, very cool

The self-titled "Assistant Best Man" Aaron treated the newlyweds to a solo!Aly and Dustin were really working the dance floor!

Northern Virginia Wedding - Tysons Corner Ritz Carlton - Deena and Mike

I had the honor of photographing Deena and Mike's wedding this past weekend with Armin. It was an amazing day, two string quartets, rocking band, beautiful locations, and a couple that just couldn't hide their love. Both Deena and Mike (or was it Matthew? The deacon wasn't sure, LOL!) were beaming ear to ear the whole day! Images were taken for Armin Defiesta Photography.

By the way, pay attention to everyone's hands. they really do help tell the story of the day!

Caught Mike killing time on his phone before the ceremony...Twittering perhaps?

Dad is so happy on the day of his daughter's wedding...

Hands tell you so much about how excited Mike is and how relaxed John, his best man was!

We headed up to Georgetown after the ceremony

Some of the guests were partying pretty hard! Some more than others...

Chesapeake Beach Senior Session Marathon

This past weekend I got a chance to hang out with the amazing Natalie Franke during a marathon senior session she was doing. We hung out down at Brownie Beach on the eastern shore of Maryland, and the conditions couldn't have been better. Bright blue skies, nice warm sun and a gentle breeze to cool you down and gorgeous clients! The beach was rather packed so we tried to stay away from the crowds by going down towards the cliffs, which was totally cooler than sand anyways! I decided to use a couple new flash techniques I'd been playing around with to try to make some of the images pop a little more. I also got a chance to learn quite a few tricks from Natalie's skills too! She has a real knack for getting a sparkle in someone's eye at just the right moment! Make sure you check out her post here!

Here's a few results from an awesome day:

Before and After

Yep, I got wet making this image, not too bad though...see below

I was going to a beach, I should have brought sandals...guess I didn't think I get wet?

We had a blast! Make sure you book Natalie for your senior session fast!

WPPI - Part 3 of 4 - Night Photoshoot

Bob Davis (go check out his site, great stuff!) organized a photo shoot of three models (locals) and a young couple (WPPI attendees) at night with a large group of us to walk around and get what photos we could while squeezing in with each other to get what we could. I hung out with Katie (who had the most gorgeous blue eyes!) for most of the shoot and wanted to share some of my favorite images from that night.

This is a shot I got while "borrowing" Asim's 200 f/2 lens while he was trying to get his camera working properly again...I really want this lens...but I think I'd have to sell an organ to get one!

I nabbed this shot while standing up on a railing because I couldn't squeeze in between the other photogs, I'm glad I climbed up there

This is just a quick shot of how many people we had at the shoot!
To those who are confused about why I've posted part 3 before parts 1 and 2, I started editing some of Katie's images tonight (I'm still on Vegas time!!!) and I just kept going and wanted to post them tonight...I'll finish up Part 1 tomorrow, LOL!
